The Challenge

Replacing an established system with innovation

Davos Congress was working with a system that was now technologically outdated and still based on PHP5 and MySQL. The system therefore offered limited user-friendliness, especially when creating landing pages. Over the years, the system had been expanded and customised, which further increased its complexity. Many of these individual functions were of central importance for operations, which is why the demands on a new solution were high. In addition, the previous system quickly reached its limits and was no longer able to meet the requirements of modern work processes. Another limiting factor was the lack of automation. Processes such as accounting and invoicing had to be carried out manually for the most part. At the same time, the introduction of new employees was made more difficult because they had grown up with modern systems and often found familiarising themselves with the previous tool tedious. The aim was to create a modern application that not only replaces existing processes but also optimises them and flexibly covers future requirements. At the same time, the new solution should be intuitive and easily accessible to new users.

A flexible approach with a focus on automation and user-friendliness

The new solution is a modern and scalable application that is specifically tailored to the requirements of Davos Congress. It enables congresses to be managed efficiently, landing pages to be easily created and published, and booking processes for participants to be designed intuitively. Automation features such as the connection to a hotel booking system and the introduction of a congress dashboard simplify recurring tasks and reduce manual effort. In addition, accounting processes, including automated invoicing, are optimised to relieve the internal teams. From a technical perspective, deploying the solution on an AWS production environment ensures high performance and scalability at peak times. The modern application architecture makes it easy to integrate new enhancements, such as a room booking tool. Particular focus was placed on user-friendliness to ensure that the platform is easily accessible for existing and new employees and can be seamlessly integrated into workflows.
